7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball

7th and 8th grade boys basketball is a team sport consisting of 10-15 players per grade level. Practice begins the end of November and games/practice continue into the first week of February. Students are coached on dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, a number of offensive plays and defensive lineups. Basketball is taught to a level higher than the 5/6th grade program in that is it no longer a participation game but a competitive game where not all players play the same time on the court. Their abilities are utilized to move the program forward in a positive direction. Coaches are trying to prepare players for the higher levels of basketball that they will encounter at the Freshmen, JV and Varsity levels.
