Para-Professional Support Staff

The special education paraprofessionals communicate and work cooperatively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to meet student needs.  To accomplish this, they act as a liaison between the classroom teacher and the special education teacher.  They are assigned clerical, instructional, and monitorial duties under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.  They work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce the learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher.  They also assist students in orderly, safe, and efficient transition between activities.  These interactions allow the special education paraprofessionals to provide the teachers, parents, and administrators with continuous feedback concerning student progress, student behavior, and incidents which affect the student well-being in order to meet the individual needs of students.
