Chamber Strings

The SJHS Chamber Strings is an extracurricular after-school small musical ensemble. Membership is by audition, except in cases of dire need (without any cellos, for instance, we'd present quite foolishly). We rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from 4 - 5.30, and our group typically numbers in the teens. We perform at the March Orchestra concert, and sometimes take our show across the parking lot to entertain and educate the kids at the Intermediate School.

The SJHS Chamber Strings performs musical material primarily from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods of music history. Occasionally, an original composition or arrangement makes its way into the repertoire. We use the selected music to learn not only more about performance, but about the compositions themselves, as well as the composers and their historical identities.  Any student interested in joining Chamber Strings should contact Mr. Flatley for more information.
