Farwell Dance – The Student Council of Stroudsburg Junior High School cordially invites you to the Ninth Grade Farwell Dance “Dancing Through the Decades” on May 19,2012 from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. in the SJHS Cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and will be sold during all lunches starting April 30th.  Click here for additional information.

Tennis Campe

Tennis Camp - The Stroudsburg Area Tennis Supporters (SATS) will conduct its annual tennis camp again this summer at the Stroudsburg Junior High School Tennis Courts.  The program will be open to all school-aged boys and girls.  Click here for more information.

Basketball Camp
Mountie Basketball Camp- Mountie Camp will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 through Friday, June 15, 2012.  Registration is on a first come first served basis.  Click here for more information.

Spain & France Trip - There will be a trip to Spain and France with an excursion to Morocco in June of 2014.  A meeting has been scheduled for any interested students and parents for Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 pm in the Junior High Cafeteria. This meeting will explain what is included in the trip, how much it costs and other important information about how to sign up and pay for it.  Any questions will be answered as well.  Please email Mrs. Yost at twismer@sburg.org with any questions.

Every year, the Scripps National Spelling Bee is hosted in many countries. The Scripps Company’s goal is to encourage students to improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English us-age that will help them in their lives. The competition goes from local schools battling each other to competitions on a national level.

Dodgeball

A dodge ball tournament supporting the Stroudsburg Baseball Booster Club took place Thursday, February 16th. The tournament had a great turnout; many students from the 8th and 9th grades participated for the same goal—winning.

After a late start, the students in yearbook club have finally started designing the yearbook. The yearbook was offered at $15 this year to make it more affordable for students.

Junior High

About Our School

The Stroudsburg Junior High School includes grades 8 and 9.  The facility provides access to several computer labs, a distance learning lab, library services, and a student run Media studio for morning and afternoon announcements.  Science, Math, English, History and Physical Education/Health are required every year.  Advanced and remedial classes in the academic subjects are offered to students who meet specific criterion.  Eighth grade students participate in a Reading Program.  Academically qualified eighth grade students may elect to take a World Language (Spanish, French or German) and Algebra for high school credit.  Other curricular offerings for eighth grade students include art, career awareness, computer applications, music, technology education and family consumer science.

 

Ninth grade student course selection allows students to select from advance placement, honors, college preparatory, career education, Tech Prep and vocational –technical courses. 

 

A variety of extra-curricular activities are available for the junior high school student to enrich the educational experience.  An activity bus is available for students on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.  Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities.  The Junior High School activities include:  Art Club, Band, Builder’s Club, Chorus, Drama Club, Orchestra, Math Club, Memory Book, Mountie Fitness Pride Program, Show Choir, award winning Science Olympiad team, Student Council, SADD, Spelling Bee, and Ski Club.   Intramural and team sports include Basketball, Golf, Swimming, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
